Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the latest issue in the Captain America line from J. Michael Straczynski & Marvel!

This issue is a continuation of the storyline that has seen Captain America fighting against destiny & death itself. And it’s been Cap’s toughest test yet, but will he be able to emerge victorious? Let’s jump into it!

Captain America #13 by J Michael Straczynski (writer), Carlos Magno (artist), Espen Grundetjern (color artist), VC’s Joe Caramagna (letterer), Taurin Clarke (cover artist) picks up right where issue #12 left off.

Captain America & his team up against the citizens of New York City as Death himself has turned everyday people against our heroes. It’s a compelling issue that feels like a classic Captain America story out of the silver age of comics.

The issue revolves around Cap & his team trying to accomplish their end goal, to stop death and save the day. Of course the big issue at the forefront is that they’re everyday civilians, despite their eager willingness to fight the heroes, they don’t know what they’re fully doing.

READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW

The battle to get through the civilians is an action packed one, and is an impressive bit of artwork. And the battle that follows with death is one that is more memorable ones in recent history. And it’s a battle that has all the markings of a classic Cap fight. Impossible odds, an even more impossible enemy, and a bleak outcome. But it’s just so good of a battle.

My favorite part of the issue is the battle sequences in the issue. It feels like something you might see in an animated movie or in the MCU with Chris Evans in a non-Avengers film. The artwork is also awesome and I really can’t emphasize just how good the story is.

FINAL POINT: This is the final issue in the story of Cap vs Death, and it’s a fitting end to a good story. It’s been a fun one that has been a real pleasure to read with each release. And the tease at the end of the issue is very intriguing to see just how it plays out and what it could mean. This issue is a fun read, and one that I think is worth picking up for any fan. It’s a story that’s pretty straight forward and is stellar from start to finish.

Score: 8.8 out of 10
