What’s Up Comic Fans!? Rich from the NI Bullpen set to review a second issue. This was a book that started last month and really blew me away. Let’s see what it has in store for me with issue 2.

Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time #2 is written by Cullen Bunn, art by Andrea Mutti, colors by Valerio Alloro, letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and edited by Brett Israel. The book is published by Dark Horse Comics.

Let’s see what Jenny and Joe are up to this issue.

***Minor Spoilers Possible***

They’re Closing In

Joe and Jenny were in a bit of a jam last we saw them. This issue opens with them barely getting out by the skin of their teeth. Well, they were escaping, Jenny is having flashbacks of meeting a man who threw a lot of parties her and her sister would go to. This man’s name is Reginald Greymont. So, before they can even catch their breath, it’s on to Chicago to find Reginald.

Once in Chicago, Joe and Jenny go to a party that Mr. Greymont is throwing. Well at the party Jenny runs into Reginald, but something is off. Greymont and some of the other guests she knows look a lot younger than when she last saw them. But before she and Joe can get any answers, the cult leader Abigail gets the drop on them. Now instead of finding Izzie, Joe and Jenny need to find where they are…or better yet, when they are?

Where’s Izzie!?

Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time #2 does a great job of continuing the story from issue #1. Cullen Bunn is weaving a multilayered story that is part psychological thriller and part mystery whodunit. The main objective of finding Jenny’s sister Izzie is still the main objective but takes a bit of a backseat this issue to flush out more of the secondary story which is the motive of the cult.

The art in the book stayed consistent between the two issues. Andrea Mutti makes you feel like you are in an old gumshoe movie from the 30’s. Valerio Alloro’s color pallet of earth tones and darker colors really gives the issue a gothic vibe. Also, a huge shoutout to Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou for the lettering. The change in boldness, and at times font is effective in conveying our protagonists’ feelings and situations.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time #2 is a solid continuation of the story. It doesn’t give you too much to digest, well still moving the story forward and adding new wrinkles. In closing, is it October yet for issue #3?

Final Grade: 8/10
