The Advantage

Jumping straight into Wolverine: Blood Hunt #3 because oh my gosh! There is so much excitement in the third installment! Last we left Wolverine and Nightguard, they were being attacked in the ocean by a huge herd of vampires. The fight proves to be strenuous, but thanks to some hungry sharks, the vampires are taken out. Wolverine and Nightguard arrive to their destination which is Maverick’s hideaway.

They’re greeted by Maverick’s voice as he watches overhead from his security cameras. While being antagonized by him, Wolverine realizes that Maverick has no idea that Nightguard is accompanying him in all these fights. Maverick thinks Wolverine is handling this all on his own since his cameras can’t see vampires. Now that they have this huge advantage, the playing field just got a little more balanced.

The Art

The art of Wolverine: Blood Hunt #3 was stunning to say the least. I loved how the underwater fight with Wolverine and Nightguard versus the vampires was illustrated. The different scales of blues juxtaposed the bright red of the blood was perfect for the fight. The whole comic is full of very dark toned scenes with contrasts of bright details, which I think is perfect for the tone of the comic. Speaking of details, Juan José Ryp does such an incredible job with providing so many details into each panel. It really adds to the overall story in the best possible way.

The Writing

Tom Waltz does it again with a comic book that excitement flowing throughout the entire book. Without giving too much away, I can say that the big twist was one I certainly didn’t see coming. However, I loved it and thought it’s perfect for this Blood Hunt run. I really can’t wait to see what’s in the next issue.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, I thought this comic was the best of the run. The art was fantastic and the writing was spectacular. I’m really loving Nightguard and Wolverine as a team, especially during the Blood Hunt event. Hats off to the creative team for Wolverine: Blood Hunt #3!

I give this a 9 out of 10
