The Lamb continues its path of vengeance through The Darkwood, cutting down the old ways and the oppressors while freeing new followers. The Bishops fear the appearance of the Red Crown and fight back. The Cult of The Lamb worship their new leader in unhealthy ways, leading Nana to be concerned for the future and skeptical of Ratau’s intentions.

Cult of the Lamb So Far
If you’re unfamiliar, Cult of the Lamb is based on the video game of the same name. It follows the last lamb in the land, now a vessel for an evil spirit looking for revenge on the beings that imprisoned him in another dimension. The book follows the tale in similar fashion, with a little more detail.
In the first issue, The Lamb had become more comfortable with the idea of having followers. It now understands what its purpose is in relation to the power it holds. The more their cult grows, the stronger it becomes.
The Cult of the Lamb Growing Pains
In issue 2 The Lamb is slicing their way through The Darkwood in search of a Commandment Stone to strength its cult and thus increase its power.
As it seems that everything is going well for The Cult of the Lamb as enemies continue to fall, things back home paint a different story.
The followers of The Cult of the Lamb are building a shrine and singing their praises to their master, but what can be seen around them is, well, disgusting. The followers are using the grounds as a bathroom. The are unclean, cold, and sick as they only build and worship while not maintaining their health and well being. Lamb’s first follower and friend Nana sees what is happening and brings their concerns to Ratau, The Lamb’s advisor. Ratau assures Nana that the followers of The Lamb are allowed to live and worship in anyway they choose. Nana however, is building shelter and seeks to help them care for themselves and others.
The Ebb and Flow of Power in the Cult of the Lamb
This issue was full of the meat and potatoes of this story in my opinion. The Lamb is seeking more power and influence all while encountering resistance. Not everyone wants to be saved. On top of the physical struggles, the seeds of betrayal and suspicion are planted in The Lamb’s mind by Fortune Tellers and Seers.
The dynamic between Ratau and Nana is also a fascinating one. It feels obvious that Ratau is working for the evil chaotic forces looking to build an army while Nana is just trying to build a safe and happy home for the oppressed. Their conflict will continue to raise the stakes in the issues ahead for sure!
Cute But Deadly World of The Lamb
The artwork this week was much more action oriented, and that’s saying something! The Lamb is slashing through enemies and dropping bodies like a high profile, ultra violent action movie. I love that Troy Little is pulling no punches with these cute little creatures. The can be brutal, violent, and terrifying.
As much action as there is, there’s still a good bit of story to tell, with layers to expose. The social structure of the cult as it grows is explored. The history of The Bishops and their fight is touched on. The Lambs mental state of mind throughout this violent expedition is revealed. So many full page panels tell this stories with images in great layouts.
Everything Points to 9.5/10
I’m loving the direction this story is going and the artwork feels dynamic and fresh. As the Cult of the Lamb continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how Ratau and Nana’s dynamic evolves. Also, how will The Lamb deal with people not worshipping it. As they increase in power, what new atrocities will they be willing to commit?!
