Welp, they did it again. In the latest issue of Ultimate Spider-Man, we take a trip down memory lane and find out how a certain hero become who he is – and it’s not who you might think.
No, it’s not Peter Parker, but Harry Osborn, the man who has become the vigilante Green Goblin.
The issue opens with a critical moment, Harry on the phone with his father Norman, late to an event, with his father lambasting him for his tardiness once again.
“My favorite memory of you is the day you finally start acting like a man,” Norman tells Harry.
As they continue their conversation, Norman perishes in the Tony Stark event that the Maker’s Council created to ruin his name.
Kingpin Makes a Huge Mistake
At the reading of Norman’s will, he’s given a card, which leads him to Wilson Fisk.
Fisk wants to sell him what’s left of Stark’s company and Harry obliges.
What he doesn’t know is that he’s about to find a cache of armor, weapons and more that eventually he’ll use to make his new metal goblin suit.
He’s also about to become a pain in Fisk’s a$$.
Another AMAZING twist is that a lesser known genius Otto Octavius is the man who will help Harry build his suit!
Spidey’s First Adventure from a Different Angle
We also get another flashback of Harry stepping in after the Shocker took care of Peter trying out his webs for the fist time.
Harry looks like a true bada$$ as the man takes the Shocker’s best punch and laughs.
We close with Harry and Peter sharing a beer and talking about how they are going to change things.
Harry is also finding out fast that it wasn’t Stark who was responsible for his father’s death, but the Maker’s Council.
In one last cliffhanger, Harry is interrogating one of Fisk’s thugs in pure Punisher fashion.
“Am i a hero or something else? I guess we’re about to find out,” he says.
Final Thoughts – 9/10
I mean, this series is extraordinary. I simply can’t get enough.
I do think there is going to be conflict between Spidey and Norman on the horizon, once Peter sees the ruthless side of Harry come out.
Like i said, Harry is acting like Frank Castle and I think he’s eventually going to take things too far.
But that will be a hell of a battle to watch!
