The Flash Annual:

Wally West has gone AWOL! To make matters worse, the Speedforce is all out of sorts, causing timequakes and tears in space and time. As the Flash family races against time and familiar enemies, Wally is racing to find the cosmic beings known as the Stillness. What happens when the problem you’re looking so deeply for is yourself?

The Art:

The art and colors crew did a really cosmic and trippy job bringing this story to life. The way that they are able to manipulate the Speedforce and the almost Greco looking armor that Wally is wearing were some of the highlights in this for me. What always is so much fun about a Flash comic is the varying use of colors that the crew can work with. They use the full abundance of the color wheel is the strong point in this annual issue.

Another strong suit within this issue is the number of Flash characters that are being played with. The Flash is at its best when the full array of heroes is displayed. Lastly, bringing the Speedforce to life is no easy task and yet they flawlessly execute doing just this. A really strong effort from the team here in making this stand out!

The Writing:

Overall, the story is well done. It can almost seem at times that it almost tries to get too smart for itself and can become confusing however, I think Spurrier easily sorts that out and helps you along. There is so much mystery and intrigue with The Stillness that keeps engaged as well and he does a great job nailing the various personalities in this tale.

The lettering is excellent overall, with a minor complaint. There are panels where robot beings are talking, and the lettering gets a bit jumbled, making it hard to read. I understand the intent, and overall, the lettering is strong. There is just a slight issue within those panels.

Overall:

I overall enjoyed this Flash Annual. Between the beautiful colors and well-written story, there is a lot to be immersed in while also not giving us too much at once. This is a must-grab issue this week!
