Last Issue Review!
The Story:
While on a mission to space to obtain Mysterium for the war against Orchis, Tony and Emma are joined by a surprise ally. Meanwhile, Ironheart gets a surprise visit of her own while on her way to oversee the construction of an armada capable of taking down Feilong’s Stark Sentinels!
The Writing:
Every time I sit down to read an issue of this run I am struck by the quality of the writing. The story structure of this issue, along with the twists and build up to what’s to come is incredible. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Gerry Duggan is crafting an Iron Man story that will live on as one of the all time greats for the character!
The Art:
While guest artist, Ig Guara did a wonderful job of filling in on the last issue, it is so great to see Juan Frigeri’s art again. This art team just meshes so well together. The slightly muted colors by Bryan Valenza really pops during action scenes. While the action and designs overall look great, the reveal pages are what really drives the artwork of this issue over the top for me. The cinematic nature of the surprise cameos in this book had me smiling from ear to ear with each panel.
The Verdict: 10/10
With multiple surprises, excelent character interactions, fun action, incredible artwork, and another fantastic cliffhanger ending, The Invincible Iron Man #13 is a masterpiece!
