Having broken free of Nightmare’s spell, Scarlet Witch and The Vision are confronted by the Twilight Court, demanding that The Avengers hand over Kang. With the rest of the team still under Nightmare’s control, the two Avengers will have to hold off the Twilight Court long enough for their compatriots to join them in battle.

The Writing:

Jed MacKay has such a complete understanding of who The Avengers are that it is always a pleasure to read his take on them. However, while I love what MacKay is doing with the team, I am not as sold on the Twilight Court. The antagonists did not hook me in this issue and I am curious to see what this wonderful writer does to change my mind on these Arthurian bad guys!

The Art:

Any misgivings I may have about the Twilight Court were washed away by the excellent art of this issue! Line work, design, inks, and colors all melded together to create a feast for the eyes. Truly excellent work from the art team on display here!

The Verdict: 8/10

While it was a bit of a slow start, The Avengers #8 built into a fun ride full of great action, solid character beats and amazing art work!
