After the devastating death of Grace at the hands of the corrupted Green Ranger. all of our heroes are now strung about the cosmos Billy on the other hand is talking…. with Grace?
Billy Comes to in a small pocket dimension of the Morphin Grid talking to a “program” of Grace’s digital copy of her brain. Flabergasted he tries to wrap his head around the concept. But Grace being the consummate general pulls him together and gives him a story about the Morphinaut and his dimension and how Dark Spector is now infecting the grid and the rangers are going to be helpless.
Billy once again with the typical self-doubt says he’s not the Red Ranger or the White Ranger. Grace stops him outright reminding him he is the Blue Ranger “The Problem Solver”
Where is Somewhere?
The rest of the team has been displaced by the Master Arch, where… we don’t know! In pairs there are Zach and Trini, Kim and Tommy, and finally Aisha with Matt. Who’s tied up at the moment? They keep getting attacked by wave after wave of Thrulls. In a moment of downtime, you still get to see the conflict between the teens as they are still dealing with the remnants of some seriously hurt feelings.
With the neverending onslaught of baddies. Aisha and Tommy have a chat with Matt asking for him to put aside his waking nightmares and ranger up because they need him. When the tides are turning towards the thrulls a ship appears and on said ship we see Billy materiazle out of the grid finding a chest…. with eggs.
Thoughts From THE GRID
These pages went but at whiplash speed for me. It was a nice departure that this book had nothing to do with the villains. Even the moment with just Trini, Kim, Tommy, and Zach was a nice nod to the original team. The dynamic Between Matt and Aisha is interesting so that’s something to look out for in fact it’s featured on one of the variant covers!
Seeing the grid from that unique perspective was amazing! Having all the colors flow through gives me a Power Rangers Universe vibe and to top it off talking about the Morphinaut too! But saying that he was from another Dimension could have more long-term story consequences.
So yeah the eggs, that was an old nod to an episode that was never finished so once again Missy is playing in the MMPR toy box and has found a deep cut, hope it doesn’t “crack under pressure”
For context, the “Power Eggs” In both Power Rangers and Zyuranger were kind of a throw away once-off idea. How they will play out now? It’s giving me very Shelby/Ms. Morgan Dino Charge vibes. I’ll go out on a limb and say new zords?
Covered like no other
Both Main and Dark Grid covers come in full art incentive variants which you can pick up at your LCS.
