Welcome to the first edition of “Letters to the Editor” where I’ll be recapping some of the latest reviews and comics news that you need to know about.
If you’ve been following Nerd Initiative on Social Media, you’ve seen we’ve expanded the comics coverage immensely. We have created a “Bullpen”, much in the same sense of the legendary Marvel Bullpen.
Each member is a comics fan first and foremost. They come with a lot of passion for the fandom and are super excited to get started bringing you some amazing coverage starting on July 19th!
If you haven’t gotten familiar with the works of Marty Stoked and Matt from Hops Geek News, get ready for something special. Also, you want to keep an eye out on what JJ has in store for everyone as well!

Let’s get into a little bit of other comics you should keep an eye out for along with the fantastic reviews this week. The first on my list is one dropping in October, but it is SO important to order now (until August 13th – FOC). That book is POCUS HOCUS!
The team behind “Hours IN Hell” are finally having their legendary Kickstarter book debuting in comic shops via Source Point Press. We here at the NI Bullen have been championing Allen Dunford and the rest of his team’s work as they’ve literally have built a following form the ground up.

There were a few comics that the NI Bullpen didn’t get a chance to deep dive with but they are ones to keep an eye out for this week.
Leading off is A VICIOUS CIRCLE #2 from Mattson Tomlin, Lee Bermejo and Becca Carey.
This book is a mind-blowing trip of an endless cycle of pain and suffering. The artwork is mesmerizing with one of the more complex stories you will read all. This is one you will not want to miss!

Next up is one of a pair of new books from Comixology Originals written by Curt Pires
Money #1 By Curt Pires, Luca Casalanguida, Mark Dale and Hassan Ostmane-Elhaou
This book focuses on the five families that rule the world and how one vote starts the beginning of the end. A thriller that poses quite the scenario. What is the worst that can happen? It is a very unique read that will have fans engaged from start to finish.
Following that, Pires (along with Darryl Knickrehm, Mark Dale and Micah Myers) takes on the question of value of eternal life in Simulation. Theory #1. Pires delivers a complex situation of artificial life vs reality and the drama that all unfolds with it. Both are available now on Comixology Unlimited!
