The Story:

Tony Stark is aided by an unlikely ally, the master of magnetism Magneto! Together, they must strike out against the remaining Sentinel factories to continue the fight against Orchis. Meanwhile, Rhodey seizes his chance to make break out of prison and head off to join the fight.

The Writing:

As we near the conclusion to this story, Gerry Duggan ramps up the stakes and continues the trend of delivering a solid narrative that is thrilling and just a joy to read. The return to Rhodey in this issue was long overdue and it was a fantastic character beat for a fan favorite character. The writing of Magneto was a real highlight with this issue. He was so smug and carefree in the face of, what should be, a terrifying situation. In stead, he handled everything thrown at him with the exact attitude you would expect from a character with his power level. The writing for this series has been top notch from issue 1 and Duggan shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

The Art:

The art team turned in a solid performance once again here. Again, the highlight was Magneto. As he handled every situation with ease and looked good doing it. The representation of his powers was fantastic. The Mark 72 Armor is really a great addition to the Hall of Armor. I love looking at this thing in action, add in the great Stark Sentinels and an old school War Machine and this was a feast for long time Iron Man fans. With that being said, I do have a small issue with the character design of James Rhodes. When I saw him on the page, I didn’t connect that it was Rhodey for a panel or two and had to go back and look again to make sure I didn’t miss something. However, that is a small quibble when the rest of the book looked so great.

The Verdict: 8.5/10

Another solid outing that promises to lead to a larger climax, this issue is a must read for Iron Man fans. I am at the point where I want the story to come to an end because I am so invest in it, but I would be happy to continue this storyline for months to come. It is a testament to the entire creative team when the reader isn’t ready to move on to the next chapter in the series.
