WOLVERINE Madripoor Knights by Marvel Comics

This comic book run takes place right after the infamous comic book, The Uncanny X-Men #268. To enjoy this current comic, you don’t need to go looking for a comic that is over 30 years old (although it never hurts to do so). The beginning of this issue, catches you right up.

Issue 2 left off with Wolverine and Cap in no condition to take on what they’re facing. Steve is currently looking like his before picture. While Wolverine has wounds that aren’t healing right away. However, they still have the world’s best spy in peak fighting shape. Black Widow is ready for a fight, and she’s got a couple old vets to back her up.

The Story for Issue 3

Right away we see Black Widow fall into her old spy ways. Her mission: to prevent the bad guys from getting a “devastating weapon” which Tyger (who is locked up and ready to be auctioned off) has in her possession. However, Cap and Wolvie are still licking their wounds due to Bloodscream, but healing quicker now. While Black Widow struggles with her past, and what the Hand did to her, Wolverine knows she’s enjoying falling back into it at the same time. Natasha can clearly handle herself, nevertheless, no one is ever completely safe. Especially on Madripoor.

The Art

This issue has some beautiful shots of Madripoor. Yet, my favorite part of the art is how the pages are laid out in such a beautiful yet unique way. A Wolverine action scene is played out in the letters, SNIKT, while other pages are designed with cutouts to highlight certain characters or moments. It’s the beautiful and action filled art you come to expect in Marvel comics, but with a fun twist.

WOLVERINE Madripoor Knights Rating 9/10

All in all I am absolutely loving the dynamic of this trio. Black Widow, Wolvie and Cap all just flow off each other with such action and respect. Whether they’re simply talking or kicking ass, they’re working together. You can see the history they have, and they use it as an advantage against their enemies. Any Marvel comic fan should add this to their pull list. It’s such a great story spun off a classic comic, and it’s set in a place that’s just now coming to light on the big screen (first in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and then a Patch cameo in the first Deadpool trailer). There is no time better than the present to step onto Madripoor and see what all the fuss is about. SNIKT!
