Star Wars: Mace Windu #3 – A TIME TO REMEMBER

Published:

Jedi Knight Windu is on task protecting a new smuggler about to make a huge score. Just when you think you’re in the clear, a new threat arrives. Remember, don’t judge a book by its cover.

The Story

I’m interested in where this story goes with the fact that already by the 3rd issue, we’ve been introduced to not 1 but 2 adversaries: The Hutt’s (because Star Wars) and the Had’le Path. Who’s sole purpose is to destroy technology. I appreciated that as much as Mace is a BAMF (it says so on his light saber) he is still playing the role of guardian and guide helping Azita work thru her heavy emotional baggage.

The Art

It’s Solid but I’m not sure that the angles on Mace Windu always come across as Sam Jackson. That is the hard part about having such a well-known actor portrayed on the paneled page. Everything else screams Star Wars but again from my perspective capturing the essence of a Young Samuel Jackson is a task.

Thoughts from Ossus

I love the fact that in comics you can have a bantha-sized amount of artistic license! The hutts have a new bounty hunter working for them…… ok let make it an Anzellan, why because comics! One thing I’d like to see is staying away from the usually Hutt tropes or obvious cameos of other nerfherding smugglers.

This idea of an anti-tech group is a huge breathe of fresh air! Star Wars as a franchise relays heavily on tech so to see an organization sought on bring down the back bone of an entire galaxy is an ambitious one at that!

Star Wars: Mace Windu #3 is a solid 7.5 out of 10 Light Sabers

The Action is there and viewing Mace Windu prior to becoming the stoic Jedi Master is great because we haven’t really seen his skills in practice. Not meaning just his lightsaber skills but those of a teacher and sage. It’s all building up and of course having a story outside of the Skywalker Drama is always appreciated.
