Kara and Kal escape from the Lanterns and find themselves back on Krypton; however, it is not the real thing, as Kara has created her version of it with the Blue Ring. As they hide in their crafted utopia, an inter-dimensional Imp has found them and hopes to change her mind.

The Story:
This issue is a somber story of grief as Kara could not be more lost. I love how Griffin and Ethan introduce an alternative version of a very infamous Imp who appears caring and as though they could be a friend to Kara. It’s setting up that the grass is not always greener and you also should not trust every friendly-looking face in the galaxy. On the other hand, the internal struggle within the Lanterns is setting up an interesting concept. They seem torn as to what to do with Kara and Kal and even drop hints about yellow suns, making it seem as though they know something more. This has been an incredible run, and issue 3 dives even further into Kara’s trauma.
The Art:
This issue is beautiful with the use of blues. It’s a soft color that gives the reader a sense of comfort, which this version of Krypton is meant to do for Kal. Kara’s suit with her Lantern ring is killer as well, and I love the different styles she goes through. There is a stark contrast in the way Rod uses coloring as the utopian Krypton is shattered and Kara sees the anger and rage, as well as the comforting bed of flowers Kara lies in.
Final Thoughts:
Supergirl Survive #3 continues to take us into Kara’s stages of grief as she doesn’t know whom to trust. The color work in this issue is a soft, beautiful array of blue, and I am loving what the team is doing with this run.
