As is with every battle, the pieces must be set in place and, boy, have they been. With Vampirella having her mother’s darkness and her friends by her side, plus Cain being in Heaven and Dark Vampirella having the Drujh, everything has been set for this grand finale. Are you ready? If so, then come join me on this review of Tom Sniegoski’s “Vampirella: Armageddon #12”!
Writer: Tom Sniegoski
Artist: Edu Menna
Colorist: Adriano Augusto

The End of The Beginning
If you’ve been following Sniegoski’s run on “Vampirella”, then you know exactly where this was all leading. In case you don’t, I’ll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible! Overall, Sniegoski crafted one hell of a story, pun intended. Not only were there deep and intriguing religious themes, but also messages of learning to accept everything about oneself, all of which comes to a head in this finale. The aforementioned message is especially poignant here in an expertly written monologue for Dark Vampirella. From the point in this run where I started all the way to now, I was left completely enthralled.
Not only was there a message of learning to love all of yourself, but also to learn to rely on those around you. Throughout these last couple of issues, Vampirella’s learned to rely on her friends and just when she needed them, they came through. This moment was so beautifully written, making me both chuckle and feel inspired. This whole finale was simply amazing and I’m beyond excited to see what comes next!

Bloody Great Art
In tandem with Sniegoski, Edu Menna and Adriano Augusto went out with a bang for this final issue. For one thing, the way the action was drawn felt very dynamic and cinematic. That way of drawing mixed with the engaging writing left me gripped and ready for more. What also helped was the way the facial expressions were drawn, showing every ounce of emotion the characters were experiencing. Whether it be anger, pain, sadness or solemness, Menna captures it all perfectly.
Coming in just as strikingly are the colors of Augusto. Not only do the blends of blues, yellows and oranges make the panels leap off the page, but they make everything feel tangible. They’re an absolutely gorgeous pairing with Menna’s shading, lending this depth that sucks you in. It is, without a doubt, truly unmatched work.
The Finale
Alas, this fantastic run of Sniegoski’s has come to an exceptional conclusion. He, along with Menna and Augusto, captured lightning in several bottles. Every issue felt kinetic and engaging with great depth to its story, characters and artwork. This run was simply fantastic and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
