‘Tis the season to sit around the house, eat entirely too much food, and watch all of the classic films you remember that helped get you into the spirit of the Holidays. You don’t have the celebrate Christmas to watch these over-the-top and feel-good films. So what better time than to tell you our team’s favorite movies to watch that help to get us in a Christmas mood without needing the help of being visited by three spirits.
The List:
- Juan: Elf. A timeless classic starring Will Ferrell and Zoey Deschanel that holds up year after year. It’s not Christmas until Juan is pouring maple syrup on his spaghetti!
- Janelle: Home Alone. I don’t know any snakes, but I do know that this is perhaps the top three greatest Christmas films of all time. It’s not Christmas until the Wet Bandits are having a brick thrown at their face in her house.
- Michael: Die Hard. We’re not here to debate whether or not this is a Christmas movie (it is, by the way); however, the tree goes up while Hans falls for our founder, Michael Rothman.
- Kat: Eloise At Christmas. Kids know best, or do they? Eloise tries her hand at Christmas magic matchmaking based on the 1958 book by Kay Thompson.
- Lauren: A Nightmare Before Christmas. To Laurens’ credit, she has been a fan of this film before it was the cool thing to do. The Pumpkin King will rise and stay risen until after the new year!
- Chris and Derek: Christmas Vacation. Time to eat some rubber and burn some dust! Chris and Derek both have this as their top pick, every family’s nightmare,F as both sides of the family spend TEN DAYS with the Griswolds. Seriously, who stays ten days?!
- Eric: Scrooged. Speaking of those three ghosts, Eric loves watching Bill Murray being visited in this 1988 classic rendition of the Charles Dickens tale.
- Megan: Four Christmases. 2008 was the height of Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon’s star power, and as their ideal vacation falls apart, they must spend the day instead attending four different Christmases. Ew.
- Thomas: Klaus. This may be the most recent film to make our list as an unsung hero working for the Postal Service is sent to a frozen northern town where he discovers a reclusive toymaker names Klaus.
- Forrest: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. One of Val Kilmer’s greatest films, and also starring Robert Downey Jr., it’s set at Christmas, and thus it is a Christmas movie in our book, and thank god he didn’t say Iron Man 3.
- Matt: Jingle All the Way. There is no better Christmas movie in my opinion, okay. Sinbad and Arnold square off in a classic chase for the famed Turbo Man doll. This movie has everything and so much more.
There you have it, our team’s picks for our top films to watch this season. Of course, The Grinch, A Muppets Christmas Carol, and A Christmas Story all should be watched as well. We’d love to hear your picks, so let us know in the comments below, and have a safe and happy holiday!!
