The Story

At the end of Binary #2, we saw exactly who had been working against Carol and the Phoenix Force the whole time; Madelyne Pryor. It was Madelyne who provided the bomb to the people of Beverly to take down Carol Danvers. It was Madelyne who made a deal with with the townspeople to spread rumors that there was no disease. And it was Madelyne who made the people of Beverly turn against Carol and hate her. Now, with Madelyne convinced she’s more deserving of the Phoenix Force, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to steal it.

However, will it be that easy? With Carol committed to keeping the town of Beverly safe, and the Phoenix Force insistent that it’ll never belong to Madelyne Pryor, this may be the fight of Madelyne’s life.

The Writing

Stephanie Phillips delivers an incredible ending to the Binary miniseries! In Binary #3, there is so much heart on each page, so much action, and so much high energy. This was the perfect ending to a story that’s been a roller coaster ride of emotion since the beginning.

In the event of X-Men: Age of Revelation, we’ve seen so many different perspectives of this new dystopian world, but Binary is, without a doubt, the most personal story. Carol was trying her best to keep the town safe for ten years, even with them hating her for it. she did what she thought was right even when she second guessed herself and felt completely alone. Carol was a hero through and through and the ending of Binary #3 proves that.

The Art

Binary #3 is easily the best work the artists have done in this series. Giada Belviso put her talents on full display throughout the comic with the incredible details on each page. With the magical aspect of the story, Belviso perfectly brought the story to life with abstract drawings that capture the mystical energy of the Phoenix Force. Rachelle Rosenberg lends her talents as colorist to the comic and makes each page with the Phoenix Force an absolute masterpiece. With the masterful mixture of reds, yellows, and oranges juxtaposing black, Rosenberg perfectly captures the otherworldly energy of the powerhouses and the Phoenix Force.

Final Thoughts

Binary is full of heart from beginning to the end, ending with a perfect bang. High energy, an extremely compelling story, and artwork that keeps your eyes glued to the pages, you can’t go wrong having this on your pull list.

Overall Grade – 10/10
