The world of Ghost Machine at Image Comics introduced us to the celestial/demonic ultimate social experiment in parenting. A demon child raised by good parents, and a celestial child raised by terrible parents, all in the hopes of a truce occurring between heaven and hell. Now in middle school and learning who, or what, they are while just wanting to be normal kids. Last time we saw Zachary Halo and Rose Hornsby their own “guardian angel” was still missing.

The Story for Hornsby & Halo #11
It’s Halloween time and Zach and Rose aren’t feeling the most festive. However, last minute family trips to New York City for both kids switches up their lack of Halloween plans. While both parents are eager to meet people who have made them generous offers out of the blue, the kids aren’t buying this as a coincidence. Once in the city that never sleeps, things get even more confusing on the spookiest night of the year. Not to mention, fishing with dynamite doesn’t always workout they way some hope.

The Art
While the art has been fantastic throughout this entire run, this issue sprinkled in some festive extras. As well as some beautiful shots of New York City. From a Halloween festival full of jack-o-lanterns, to some amazing costumes in the city. It was all done perfect. Hornsby & Halo never skimps on the amazing details both in the forefront, and the background. Making the art all that much more amazing, and fun to take in. For those who also read Hyde Street from Ghost Machine, pay close attention to the trick-or-treaters.

Overall Grade: 9/10
I’m a sucker for any story that brings in the festivities of the holidays, and Hornsby & Halo #11 did it spookily perfect! This wasn’t a stand alone to recognize Halloween. The overall journey of Rose and Zach’s continued on, as they struggle with what they now know they are, and we ended with a cliff hanger that I had no clue was coming. This was another fantastic issue of Hornsby & Halo with a little pumpkin spice sprinkled throughout it.
