The Story

From the beginning, there has been a lack of trust from Green Lantern, Power Girl, and Cyborg for Red Tornado, understandably so. He’s sent them on missions without giving them all of the information. He’s lied about the details, and he’s kept the truth from them purposefully. The team has had enough of being lied to and demand the truth, or they’ll tell the Justice League about these plans that Red Tornado has tried hard to keep from them.

Turns out, according to Red Tornado, it’s all centered around one person, Red Canary. According to Red Tornado, Red Canary is the key that saves the world from its impending doom. The problem is that Red Canary is moments away from being sacrificed to the Church of Blood.

With an important mission on hand, Cyborg and Green Lantern hurry to save Red Canary while Power Girl stays behind to keep an eye on Red Tornado, who still isn’t to be trusted.

Justice League Red #3 is surrounded by mystery and a looming feeling of distrust for Red Tornado, even though he says he’s being sincere. Saladin Ahmed provides an excellent bit of continuation while capturing the excitement from the previous issues. Cyborg and Green Lantern fight as hard as they can, which keeps the energy high, while keeping true to their personalities that shine through their dialogue. I’m excited to see what Ahmed brings in the next issue!

The Art

Justice League Red #3 does a fantastic job keeping the energy high and exciting through the artwork, all thanks to Clayton Henry, Arif Prianto, and Lucas Gattoni. The artwork is full of precise details that give so much depth to the panels matched with vibrant colors that make the panels pop off the pages. This leads to some downright beautiful such as a stunning fullpage panel from Red Canary that really changed the game.

With the lettering, provided by the talented Lucas Gattoni, there’s a real power beneath the words that Gattoni was able to easily nail. You can feel the emotion, the exasperation, and the frustration erupting through the dialogue, which speaks on Gattoni’s lettering talents.

Overall Grade – 8.4/10

With so much mystery surrounding Red Tornado and what he’s actually up to, if he’s telling the truth or not, I’m excited to see where this leads. The creative team nails it once again with Justice League Red #3, and I look forward to the next issue!
