The Story
In the Age of Revelation, everyone has their plan. Some are fighting against Revelation, some are trying to survive, and some are apart of a high powered task force created by Mister Sinister.
That task force includes Black Cat, Domino, Havok, Lady Fantomex, and Omega Red. Sinister sends these outcasts to do his bidding, which is all apart of a plan that only Sinister knows until he lets them in.
According to Sinister, he has experimenting and learning all about the X-Virus and how to control the effects it has on mutants. While it isn’t a cure, it’s something. However, it seems Sinister has a much bigger plan for his Sinister Six that will absolutely put them all in danger, but will it be worth it?
David Marquez joins the X-Men: Age of Revelation event, and brings the big guns with him in terms of characters, With Havok being the team leader, you can see that Summers charm when he’s in charge of his team. Along with Havok, you have Black Cat, who has grown into her own mutant version of herself and has thrived. Domino, Lady Fantomex, and Omega Red have had their own side effects from the X-Virus, but have some to be a very important part of this twisted team.
Together, these unsuspecting characters are powerhouses in their own right, but work surprisingly well together as a team, despite their snarky attitude towards the others. With Mister Sinister being their Professor X as a leader, color me excited to see where David Marquez takes this ragtag team.
The Art
Rafael Loureiro, who’s the artist of Sinister’s Six #1, brings a darker team up with artwork that sets the tone of the comic incredibly well. Each character is drawn beautifully and menacingly at the same time. The one character I couldn’t take my eyes off of was Black Cat, who’s never looked so much like a feline powerhouse before, and Loureiro knocked it out of the park.
Along with Loureiro, Alex Sinclair handles the colors, and if history has taught us anything, it’s that Sinclair doesn’t play. That is very clear once you see the striking dark colors of the team contrasting their surroundings, hammering in the fact that this is a darker team lead by the evil Mister Sinister. Together, Loureiro and Sinclair bring a comic that your eyes will stay glued to the pages, making you not want to turn the page.
Overall Grade – 8.8/10
David Marquez made his imprint in the X-Men: Age of Revelation in a big way and I can’t wait to see what’s next! The story is surrounded by mystery, action, and a team of characters that shouldn’t work together, but Marquez elegantly makes sure they do.
