Foot Clan Protectors of Humanity?
The story starts, revealing that the Foot Clan was originally formed to protect humanity from the Kaiju. With the last time the foot was called upon was right before Oroku Saki would take the clan in a new and criminal direction. Fast forward to the present and the Turtles are fighting the Foot Clan and their ally Krang. Just when the Turtles thought everything was business as usual, a Kaiju attack led by Godzilla rocks Japan. At this time Splinter reveals the Foot Clan’s past and sets into motion the Turtles entrance into this heavyweight fight.
Mutant vs Kaiju
This first issue does an excellent job of showing the reader the scale of this crossover event. Tim Seeley does a phenomenal job crafting a lore that brings the world of TMNT and Kaiju into one. The backstory doesn’t feel forced and sets the motivation of where the story is going perfectly. The cast of characters and Kaiju are going to excite the fanbases of both franchises. Overall, this book sets this series up to be a true fan service joyride.
The art in this issue melds the worlds of Godzilla and the Turtles seamlessly. Fero Pe does a fantastic job of honoring both franchises, while still bringing an original flare and creativity. The character/monster designs look fantastic. While the backgrounds and action scenes are completely stunning. Luis Antonio Delgado matches the arts’ energy perfectly with the color choices. The art team really sets a fantastic tone for this series with this first issue.

Final Thoughts
TMNT x Godzilla #1 is an amazing crossover event that we didn’t know we needed but will gleefully enjoy for its entire run. The awesome backstory, mixed with some great action, and fantastic reveals makes this first issue a must read for all comic book fans.
