Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I’m going to be reviewing the 16th issue of The Ultimates from Marvel Comics!

I am completely serious when I say this series is the best that Marvel has out right now.
Yes, I’m counting it against EVERYTHING they’re printing right now. This issue has a lot to live up to, and it exceeds it in every way possible! So without further ado, let’s jump into it!
The Ultimates #16 by Deniz Camp (Writer), Juan Frigeri (Artist), Federico Blee (Color Artist) & VC’s Joe Cramanga (Letterer) is one of the best issues I’ve ever read in the last year. And it’s one that’s sure to leave fans talking!
The Story
Deniz Camp pens an absolute masterpiece of a story in this issue from start to finish. We get to see a teenager named Wren who lives at home with her parents, and she’s a bit rebellious. They’re getting phone calls about her attendance at school, and from there it flashes back to her back story and just who she is.
It’s an incredibly compelling story, that’s also a very heartfelt one. You very quickly get a sense of how motivated Wren is, and what matters most to her. It’s a great introduction, and I cannot wait to see what happens with her next.
The Artwork
Juan Frigeri & Federcio Blee do their best work in this issue, and man oh man is it great! It’s some of the most brutal artwork I’ve seen since reading The Walking Dead back in the day. I also love color choice that’s used in this issue. It’s very dark & lacking any amount of hope. Things seem bleak, they seem hopeless. But there’s just enough color (aka hope) in there to give you some optimism for the future of this universe.
FINAL POINT: This issue is an absolute must read & one you should NOT be missing out on. The story is a deep, heartfelt one. Also you have the artwork is nothing short of incredible! If you’re missing out on this series, you need to catch up ASAP!
Overall Grade: 10/10
