Ever since we learned of the Knights of Ren there’s been a lot of speculation about just who they are and, what they’re about. Well now it’s time to peel back some of the curtain on that mystery! Let’s jump into it!

Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #8 by Charles Soule (Writer), Stefano Raffaele (Artist), Nolan Woodard (Color Artist) & VC’s Joe Caramagna (Letterer) is a great issue that peels back the mystery surrounding the Knights of Ren in a really intriguing story.

The Story

The majority of the story is involving Tava Ren, a mysterious new character we haven’t met before, and the histroy of the Knights of Ren. The two are intertwined together in a really fascinating history. Charles does a really good job exploring the history of the Knights of Ren & how Ben Solo came to be a part of the group that was really enjoyable.

There’s still so much we don’t know about the time between Return of the Jedi and the sequel films, but Charles tells a masterful story in exploring some of that. It’s one of the more compelling stories I’ve read in some time, and one that every Star Wars fan should read. On top of that you have the ending, which I did NOT see coming. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and where things go from here.

The Artwork

Stefano Raffaele & Nolan Woodard do a fantastic job with the artwork in this issue. Everything is so crisp & detailed, and I like the effect they did with the flashback scenes to give it a different feel from the scenes taking place in the present.

FINAL POINT: This series is easily one of my favorite Star Wars series this year. Charles Soule is easily one of the best storytellers in Star Wars right now, and the artwork in each issue is just so beautiful. You’re really missing out if you aren’t reading this series.

Overall Grade: 9.0/10
