The bad blood between the Reilly’s and the Garrison’s runs deep enough to unearth evil. Avery Belle knows all to well what the roots of evil from the past can do to the present. This case just keeps getting more and more complicated. Raindancers and Demons make things even worse. Texarcanum continues with issue 2!

Texarcanum Digs Deeper Into the Past
Issue #1 of Texarcanum set the stage for Avery Belle’s latest supernatural case. Demons, famine, and pestilence all spreading from hatred and murder. He thought he was done with the Garrison-Reilly family feud…but it ain’t done with him.
In Case You Missed It: TexArcanum #1 The Blood Curse of the Old West
The next chapter in the exciting Texarcanum story takes us onto another branch of the Reilly family. Ciara Reilly and her husband Marcus Chen actually need assistance from the family drama. Their call happens to involve their need for an expert in the matter of unearthly complications. Strange deaths are occurring at their solar farm and they need Avery to help them investigate. What he finds is a supernatural coincidence, but it may push the Garrison-Reilly feud into an all out war!
The Fascinating Lore and Characters in Texarcanum
Writer Christopher Monfette did an amazing job in setting the tone for this series in issue 1. We got to know the setting and the depth of the world its set it. In issue 2, he dives deeper into who Avery Belle is. Not only that, he connects the complications and curses associated with family history and how it significantly effects the present. It’s like Monfette is opening the books of so many amazing stories that can be told in this universe. It’s a richly layered world full of lore and fascinating stories. Avery Belle’s family history is an amazing trip through history.
Dark Horse Comics Reveal New Critical Role Graphic Novel
I really love Monfette’s approach to the history of the Indigenous people in the Southwest. Bringing in a Raindancer as an antagonist is a tough subject to tackle, but he does it beautifully.
The Art of Texarcanum
The art of Texarcanum sprawls across the the Texas landscape. The western motif is awesome and works as a wonderful vehicle for a supernatural story such as this. Mysticism is just as prevalent in the old west as it is anywhere else. We don’t often get those ghost stories. Miguel Martos and Patricio Delpeche work together to bring those visuals to life. The darkness of evil contrasts with the natural beauty in an awe inspiring way.
Overall Grade 9.5/10
Texarcanum has been just what I’m looking for in supernatural comic book. Western and horror come together in perfect harmony. Avery Bradley is one of my new favorite comic protagonist. He’s an deep character with a cowboy swagger, a non nonsense attitude, and a good heart hidden inside. The intrigue of ghosts, ghouls, and demons wrapped up in a generational family feud and the sins of the Old West makes this comic a must read!
