The King Has Been Murdered

Life is simple in the City State of Titania, which is part of a larger group of City States. The King of Titania has two children, a son and a daughter who help him rule Titania. The royal family is beloved and revered by the citizens of Titania. Prince Heron is very interested in the lost civilization of Atlantis and the magic they possessed. This is strictly forbidden in Titania and the sale of Atlantean artifacts is also outlawed.

One morning the murdered body of the King is discovered, and the prime suspect is Prince Heron. Heron is arrested and sent to a prison island to serve out his time for the murder of his father. Princess Isadora is left to rule with her lover General Kallias, but are they the ones who set up the prince? Heron is going to try and escape the prison with an Atlantean artifact thief Selene. They will travel to the ruins of Atlantis and find the magic they will need to reclaim Heron’s throne. But a twist in the road reveals a lot of things are not what they seem.

On to Atlantis

This book has a lot of twists and turns and just when you think you have It figured out, the story swerves you again. Matthew Arnold does a great job of creating this world and the mythology that surrounds it. The layers of the story are also great, as you unravel one thread another reveals itself. One of the twists is obvious and easy to call, which kind of diminishes its impact on the story. Well, the other twist is a little too convoluted which can be slightly confusing for some readers.

The art is really good and captures the Roman/Greek feel of the story. Davide Gianfelice does a good job of bringing the world to life and the characters in it. The action and violent scenes look awesome and really bring the reader in. The color choices of Luca Salce match the art perfectly.

Outer Lands is a good story that brings a great deal of entertainment to the reader.
