Not everything is how it seems down on Hyde Street, as Geoff and Ivan kindly remind us throughout this tale. It is funny seeing Pranky reduced to begging, which may be the most satisfying thing I have read on this run to date. The team does an incredible job bringing. X-Ray and Pranky together and setting up something or someone much more unsettling and dangerous on the horizon. We get a taste of Doctor Ego and how he just may be something much worse than we have ever met on Hyde Street. Somehow with how this issue ends I cannot help but feel like we are setting up a horrific team that will form an unlikely alliance and I cannot wait.

Danny and Brad make this issue very textured and very pleasing to the eyes. The Yak hair that now covers Pranky is done with such detail that we can almost smell the mold and feel the rough texture. Pranky is now covered in. When we meet Doctor Ego and the two old women who work for him, their faces are almost melting, and again, the detail left me with an influx of various smells. Doctor Ego’s face reveal, and particularly his mouth is done just enough to cause shivers to shoot down our spines when we meet him.

Hyde Street #8 may be one of the most important issues yet in this run, as it feels as though we are on the cusp of something truly horrifying. The art and story are seeing alliances form in ways we did not think would come and they may need these before long.
