The last we saw Wolverine he was up against his oldest nemesis, Sabretooth. All to protect the mother that abandoned him so many years ago. A woman Logan thought long dead, and whose return has brought out emotions he didn’t realize he was holding onto. However, things are often not what they seem at all.

The Story for Wolverine #12
Wolverine’s enemies all seem to know how to hurt him the most: his heart. While he may be the ultimate killer, he’s always had a good heart, and one that never truly healed after his childhood. Mastermind has used that against him in ways that go beyond any physical pain. As Wolverine attempts to claw his way out of this illusion he reaches depths of his own mind he’s kept locked up for way too long.

The Art
This issue continues with the absolute gore, emotions, and beauty we have seen in previous issues. However, the back and forth of Mastermind to Elizabeth Howlett being seen alongside Logan created an almost creepy feel and showcased how horrible Mastermind truly is. Then we’re thrown into the chaos of the illusion. Which shows an even deeper level of struggle that Wolverine must overcome.
Overall Grade: 9.5/10
Once again this run gives you exactly what you expect from a Wolverine run, and then flips it around taking you somewhere you didn’t see coming. I’m never surprised when Sabretooth shows up. However, I never expected an ambush by Victor Creed to lead to the emotional depths that Logan uncovered in this issue. Logan has lived over a century. That’s over a century of holding onto childhood trauma. While Mastermind’s end goal is evil, he ended up giving Logan a gift he didn’t know he needed.
Any and all Wolverine fans should absolutely be grabbing this comic! SNIKT!
