Three stories from the adventures of various Yautja throughout history highlight the first issue of Predator: Black, White, & Blood. These vary from the colonization of Australia, to a Medieval journey, to the halls of a modern day weapons trade show. Each one with a different premise and outcome. The action, violence, and brutality get taken to a new level!

I wasn’t sure how to feel at first when I realized that these were 3 separate stories. However, it didn’t take long for me to be all in on the first story, leaving me eager for the 2 to follow.
Bloodwood Part 1 in Predator: Black, White, & Blood
Bloodwood Part 1 sets the stage for a bigger arc. The Australian gold rush puts us in the shoes of young lady growing up quickly and losing both of her parents. Having to do what it takes to survive she works in a less than reputable place. When we finally get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment, we find a fighting ring, complete with a captured Predator down an arm! The fighting is brutal and the reveal at the end was awesome! I can’t wait to see where this one goes from here!

PREDATOR VERSUS SPIDER-MAN #3: The Hunt
The art in this issue was beautiful. Big sprawling environments in the Australian wilderness and an excellent use of red and green to highlight certain things amongst the black and white. Larger than life characters grace the panels and a fascinating look at a injured Yautja without it’s armor.
Once and Future in Predator: Black, White, & Blood
Once and Future gives us a look into a Predators stalking a group of knights. This one has some really great action. This Predator is brutal and in it’s prime. The story is pretty straight forward. I like that it’s this short, self contained moment in history. What’s really great about this one is the reveal of a pretty legendary name and character of myth. Once you realize who the Predator was fighting, you just have to go back and read it again with the new information!
A Place of No Honor in Predator: Black, White, & Blood
Finally, we find a Predator in the middle of a busy trade show centered around weapons and security in “A Place if No Honor”. I like the premise here. A large group of humans with advanced weaponry and surveillance tech going up against one of the best warriors in the universe. What’s really intriguing is this Yautja’s inner monologue as it tears through challenger after challenger. It gets really gory, brutal, and intense.
Overall Grade 10/10
A fantastic read! I was on the fence about this one, but Marvel didn’t pull any punches. These stories are raw and unique. The themes are well though out and a blast to engage with. The black, white, and blood gimmick was made for a just such a franchise! If you enjoyed Predator: Killer of Killers, you’ll really dig this! The violence is there, the stories are solid, and the artwork makes for a serious page turner! As a fan of The Predator franchise, this is just the thing you want out of Marvel Comics!
