The Story:

I love the tones Ben is playing with in this issue because we have the full spectrum of emotions. JJ is angry as usual, and MJ is terrified. Speaking of writing, her having to hide in a horde of rats is pure nightmare fuel. And then, of course, he nails Peter’s quips down pat. This issue takes us into a bit of battle as Peter is using his webs and every trick in the book to which he takes one of the Yautja’s masks off in which Ben captures the heart of Peter with his jokes of how ugly he is reminiscent of a certain body builder as well. I’m not quite ready for this issue to end but the set up is about perfect for an epic showdown.

The Art and Letters:

The artwork captures a lot of detail, especially on the Yautja during battle. Each one has its vicious look, which is a testament to Jay, Frank, and Marcelo, who team up to bring these horrors to life. There is a sequence involving rats that made me squirm as they brought the visual to life in such a vivid manner that I forgot I was not watching an episode of Fear Factor for a moment! There is a lot of fluidity in the way Spider-Man and the Yautja fight as well, that doesn’t get messy at any point, and leaves a clear picture of how it is all going down. Each creature has a different shade to its slimy skin all culminating in fantastic artwork.

Final Thoughts:

Predator Versus Spider-Man #3 turns up the heat in terms of action and stakes. Setting up an epic final issue, I truly do not know how this will shake out.
