Dawnrunner Has Been Building To This
An unstoppable Tetza has come through the portal and threatens to end everything. Anita pilots the most sophisticated Iron King ever manufactured called the Dawnrunner. When the 2 initially square off, It seems that nothing is a match for this Tetza.
After being defeated and brutally damaged, Dawnrunner adapts. It consumes it’s pilot and merges her consciousness with Ichigo, the consciousness of the man programmed into this advanced Iron King. The end result of this merge is a perfect blend of technology and organic matter that becomes a super weapon against the horrible threat that faces them.
A Beautiful Story of a Parents Love
This story has been an absolute delight to read. Ram V blends science fiction, horror, action, and a heartfelt story of parental love into an entertaining adventure. He pulls from so many properties we know for inspiration, but it never feels like a “copy and paste” story. It’s fresh, it’s inspiring, it’s…beautiful.

The main characters shine in this series and especially in this issue. Anita is just trying to see her daughter again, and Ichiro just wants to help her see that realized. He has a moving monologue that covers a couple of pages. It’s not to heavy to read, yet it made me feel emotions as a father myself that brought a lump to the back of my throat.
The Perfect Blend of Artistic Themes in Dawnrunner
The artwork has been nothing less than spectacular. Here in issue five the action is cranked to 11. Dawnrunner is making easy work of the Tetza as it moves so fast with powerful precision. It sprouts the hideous wings you’ve even seen, yet against the action they look gorgeous. Evan Cagle has a masters touch when it comes to bod horror. His Tetza and Iron King designs are fantastic. They become something more when combined together.

The colors in this issue change gears from previous issues. So much red from blood and fire adorn the panels. The greens and blues from what’s happening inside of Dawnrunner present a drastic contrast. The colors work to highlight and set the tone for the settings each character finds itself in. Bidikar’s lettering for this issue comes in the form of mostly inner thoughts and comms chatter. It may seem simple, but those subtleties go along way with the story telling.
Everything Points to 10/10
This was the perfect conclusion to the heart of the story that Ram V was trying to tell. It hit all of the emotional high notes for me. On top of pulling you heart strings, the action is exciting. I found myself trying not to cheer out in joy at certain moments during the battle. It had all of those awesome moments you see in an anime fight when someone unlocks a new level of power! Each and every story thread gets wrapped up very nicely and leaves the reader feeling satisfied!
