The Zombiote

We’re in the midst of the Venom War and things are getting heated. Starting with Meridius, Eddie Brock’s evil future self, has decided to unleash his “zombiote” on all of New York City. His zombiote was made with a symbiote and a symbiote predator, which he took the traces of and infused them into his new K-chemical, K-44. Meridius says that this is the way to finally being able to control the symbiotes once and for all, which Liz Allan, the host to the symbiote Misery, is not on board with as she doesn’t trust him. Her distrust in him is rightfully earned and he attacks Misery aiming to kill.

The Main Event

Meanwhile, a black suited Spider-Man just dropped in on the Venom War between Eddie and Dylan, accompanied by Venom. Spider-Man has a proposal as to how to handle who gets to play host to Venom. As Spidey and Venom just went through a wild adventure getting to the arena(catch up here!), he feels Venom should be left in safe hands and that sure doesn’t look like Eddie. Spider-Man says that the rule for fighting should be costume names only, meaning the only people that fight are wearing a symbiote. Eddie accepts this offer and surprises everyone by saying he will be Bedlam. Bedlam is dangerous, unhinged, corrupted, and even more so with Eddie at the reigns.

The Bedlam and Spider-Man fights begins and it’s not looking good for Spidey and Venom. While Bedlam and Eddie have their own tricks up their sleeves to ensure they’ll win, it seems another contender has decided to join. It’s time for the Prince in Black to throw his name into the ring.

The Art

There was so much to like about the art in Venom War #2, that I say the artists of the comic deserve a 10/10 themselves. I really enjoy seeing all of the different looks of the symbiotes and love how they all have their own personalities that shine through the art. The zombiote was absolutely terrifying and sent a chill down your spine, especially when you can see how truly unhinged they are in each panel they’re in. Without giving anything away, I’ll just say that the Prince in Black looked phenomenal.

The Writing

The storyline with Meridius and the zombiotes kept me on the edge of my seat. I’m really excited to see where that leads to and how it’ll intertwine with the battle between Eddie and Dylan. Speaking of those two, this battle royale between the father and son has been so compelling. Plus adding Spider-Man into the mix was awesome. Al Ewing does a fantastic job at keeping you guessing and increasing the excitement through the comic. I’d say Venom War #2 was even better than the first installment.

I give this a 9 out of 10
