The Wizard and his Frightful Four Hundred continue to hunt down Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Lucky for Wanda and Pietro, they’ll get a little help from friends and family! As The Wizards plans and goals are revealed, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver find themselves at ground zero. What does The Wizard and his “Angel” want from the twins? Why are they considered so dangerous in the grand scheme of things?

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Family Issues
For a full recap, you can check out my reviews for issues #1 and #2. For a quick recap, Wanda and Pietro receive a letter from Magneto. Wanda thought it in the best interest to keep whatever was in said letter from Pietro and burn it to ashes before he could read it. This set off a chain of events in which Pietro ran away in anger, not knowing that was all part of someones plan. With the two separated, The Wizard engages Scarlet Witch, whilst his Frightful Four Hundred attempt to subdue Pietro. Wanda ends up releasing a fraction of the chaos within and can’t control it, fleeing away to an old friend and lover, Vision. Pietro however, backs himself into a corner, but catches a break when his nephew Speed arrives!
The Story Continues To Impress
Issue 3 continues to be a well balanced book, much like issues 1 and 2. There’s some fun, over the top action, while still telling the story and slowly revealing plot points along the way. Orlando is doing a fantastic job at exploring the characters of Wanda and Pietro. I’ve said it in previous reviews, but he really has a strong grasp on the voices of these two characters. Their dialogue is so unique for each personality and the nuance in their actions and mannerisms continue to keep me invested.

The introductions of Vision and Speed into the story only help to reinforce the character development. Visions insights into the strengths of Wanda help her regain her confidence. At the same time, his wisdom on the matter of Magnetos letter gives her insight into trusting her brother. For Pietro, Speed is like a representation of himself at a younger age. Seeing a-lot of his same characteristics brings revelation. It’s also a hint that Quicksilver can’t do everything by himself.
Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Represent Balance
As far as the over plot, having The Angel reveal more about its reasons was interesting. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver represent a balance between science and magic. Whatever they are capable of could mean “The End”. Whether that be a bad end of the world type of scenario or something else is still a mystery. The Angel claims to be close to merging into this realm and expects The Wizard to deal with the 2 of them by then.
Tammetta and William are firing on all cylinders for this series. Every page and panel are beautiful vibrant works of art. I feel like each issue has gotten better. Each scene that Quicksilver is running in feels so lively and dynamic. I can understand the grace and precision in the way Quicksilver is moving. That leads to the action in the book. I love the way each of these heroes moves and acts. The color palettes continue to impress. The reds, purples, and pinks of Wanda and the greens, yellows, and oranges of Quicksilver create such an awesome contrasting effect to their surroundings.
Everything Points To 8.5/10
What can I say about this book that I haven’t said about the previous two? I’m in love with the art work. It feels like a classic style with much more detail and rich vibrant colors. The story has been so much fun and dramatic. Pietro is a blast to read. He’s cocky and hilarious. Wanda is absolutely beautiful and so powerful, to the point that she’s spending a lot of time holding back. I find myself still intrigued by what the letter from Magneto said. What would Wand think Pietro couldn’t accept? The Wizard started out as your stereotypical, mustache twirling villain, but grows into something deeper with each issue. If the trend continues, issue 4 should only continue to impress.
