Weapon X-Men, by Marvel Comics
The last issue kicked off a story involving a team up of Wolverines you wouldn’t expect to save a world. However, whether they’re a zombie, out of shape, or always referred to as “old” they’re still the best at what they do, and thanks to Phoenix, they got to Earth 295 just in time. While the outcome wasn’t ideal, they still saved some lives, but there’s still work to do. They’re up against Onslaught, who is crossing the multiverse and destroying worlds.
While this story is stand alone, it has a lot of backstory you can dive into as well. The last page of issue #2 even has some footnotes that explain tidbits and easter eggs referencing past stories.

The Story for Issue #2
We kick off with the backstory for our ‘out of shape’ Wolvie. It starts as what Logan would imagine as his happily ever after, however, he wouldn’t be the Wolverine he is today if that’s how his story went. We then see this group of berserker rage filled Wolverines licking their wounds and searching for Onslaught on Phoenix’s home planet. A planet where Wolverine did get a happy ending, and so many seem to be doing so well. Only to have Onslaught finally be found and crash a party. A party this Weapon X-Men team never thought they’d see.
The Art
A dinosaur, zombie wolverine, older versions of our favorite X-Men, and more… This art was X-Men perfection from beginning to end. A single page seamlessly accomplished humor, tragedy and action.
Weapon X-Men, Issue #2 Rating: 10/10
While this story has some very sad and dark moments, it’s not without a ton of humor. Zombie Wolverine has multiple hilarious one liners, while Jane Howlett is quickly becoming my favorite of the bunch. Seeing multiple different ways that Logan’s life could have gone in a single comic, all while the story still progresses, was such a fun read! I was not at all ready for it to end, and I cannot wait for the next issue to drop.
