WOLVERINE #27 – “This Man, This Metal”

Wolverine still has one set of adamantium claws, and a set of some jagged bone claws. While not at his optimal fighting capacity, he’s forced to tap into everything he is to be the best at what he does. If you haven’t grabbed any issues from this current Wolvie run, this is a great one to jump in if you love an action-packed comic that’s also full of story.

The Story for WOLVERINE #27

From his healing power being stolen for a bit to one of his hands losing its adamantium claws, Logan has seen better days. However, going up against the Adamantine on steroids, Wolverine has to channel his everything into fighting. With a group of unexpected familiars, up against a prehistoric beast with the thickest skin ever, things seem literally tough. Until it gets worse, as most Wolvie stories tend to get. With a little help from some friends, Logan realizes he’s got to accept a part of himself he has long rejected, and not just for this fight.

The Art

Holy SNIKT balls! The art in this issue was absolutely fantastic!!! The line work, the colors, the lettering- it was all perfection. Or as the kids would say, “no notes.” I’m still going to give notes, though. Every single page had me staring longer than I normally would, just taking in the art. I usually like to point out a favorite moment from the art, but I honestly can’t narrow it down to one. Page one sets up an epic fight that quickly kicks off with some perfect action shots.

Without spoiling the story, some other key art moments were an incredible fastball special, a moment focused on “something bigger,” and the moment you see Logan showcase how he’s the best at what he does. As this issue wraps up, the story sets up what’s to come, as the art gives us one last oooh moment with some absolutely perfect coloring.

Final Thoughts

Issue #27 of Wolverine was a lot of fun! It’s a ton of action, it showcases the Wolverine every fan has fallen in love with, and the art is so damn good it’s hard to take your eyes off it.

Overall Grade: 9/10
