The Story
The New Titans have a new guest at Mount Titans and it’s someone we all know and love, Static! Superman invites Static into Mount Titans to maybe join the team, but first he has to show him around and introduce him to the other team members. This gives us a great look into the team’s every day dynamics, which certainly weren’t as stellar as Superman would’ve hoped in front of their new guest. Eva is in her feelings for offending Yara, training has caused some straight between Nightwing and Batgirl, Cyborg is already frustrated and seeing Static doesn’t help, and Yara has something building throughout this issue. With Yara, she’s having these traumatic dreams that leave her startled and on edge. Everyone in Mount Titans is going though their own issues and Static just so happens to be in the middle of the heightened emotions.

Tate Brombal sets up the next issue to be very Yara focused with leaving us on a very compelling cliffhanger that I’m really excited to see play out. There’s also the big question of what is going on with Static and his powers? I’m not sure where Brombal is taking us, but I am very excited to see!
The Art
What I love is that you can see the artists had a lot of fun with so many different characters and it shows clearly on the pages of New Titans #38. Sami Basri and Bruno Abdias give excellent details in the linework on each page, especially when it comes to the characters. Each one is drawn to stand out without watering down the others around them. Adriano Lucas handles the colors brilliantly with each page having a huge amount of vibrancy, especially when powersets are brought into the mix. Steve Wands handles the lettering and does an excellent job at capturing the personality of the characters through their dialogue. Together, the artists came together and made this a beautiful comic from beginning to end.
Final Thoughts
I was already excited for Static to show up in New Titans and this comic exceeded all my expectations! Tate Brombal and the artists did a fantastic job, leaving me waiting anxiously for the next issue to drop!
