The Story:

Cable and his team of X-Force are on the trail of a live-streaming revolutionary. But, how does this new threat connect to the mystery of the first Mutant president’s future assassination? Also, can Domino get her memory back in time to stop what is coming?

The Writing:

Tim Seeley has done a really admirable job of taking a book that could have easily been a formulaic, mission of the week story and, instead, peppering in a deeper mystery that keeps the reader intrigued between all the super powered punching. One major part of the success of this series has been Seeley’s ability to get into the mind of Cable, a character that is not an easy one to write. The inner monologue/journal entry framing device helps the reader understand what is happening on a deeper level and endears the character quicker than writing him in the third person constantly. Speaking of the deeper mystery of this series, just when I felt like this story may have been starting to sag under the weight of itself, this issue kicked me in the chest with a massive curveball that left me excited to see what comes next.

The Art:

This may be the best artwork in this series. Luca Maresca and Romulo Fajardo Jr. work effortlessly together to elevate the story with incredible visuals. This art team did not have an easy task, the number of characters on the page at one time, the bombastic action, and the use of time travel and Mutant abilities would have been a hinderance for lesser artist. Even with very busy pages, I never once felt like I was lost or overwhelmed. Instead, I got to bask in the greatness of pure, unadulterated, comic book chaos!

Overall Grade: 9/10

With solid writing and great artwork, this is another win for the series. This issue wins with it’s mind boggling twist at the end and continues to tease a larger conflict to come!
