The Battle for Black Spire
Issue three of Galaxy’s Edge is an amazing story continuing on Batuu. This issue is going to entice readers’ excitement because this issue contains a lot of Darth Vader fight scenes! There is also a leveling off from all of the action with the telling of backstory, which leads to an emotional remembrance of a past character.

The first thirteen pages of this twenty-page story are where readers get action right off the bat! Vader has found the Rebels and knows they have in their possession the artifact that he is searching for. This screams trouble for the Rebels, but the Batuuans (people of Batuu) take up arms and bring an onslaught to the mechanical feet of Vader. Citizens of Batuu gather anything they can find to use against Vader.
As you can imagine, this is not going to work against Vader. He makes destroying the Batuuans look like child’s play. Once Vader makes his “forceful” way through the people of Batuu, he is now face to face with none other than Princess Leia. Some family reunion, right? Vader claims the victory, but this fight is not over yet.
Towards the end of this issue is a great connection to the storyline of the original movie trilogy. The connection is made with a character that, in my opinion, is not a fan favorite within the Star Wars Fandom. But the way these stories connect is very moving. It provides a different aspect of this movie character and opens my eyes to viewing them in a different light as well now.
The ending of this issue gives readers an open ending in true iconic Star Wars fashion. This entices readers to want more from this series! I want more!
The Writing
Ethan Sacks delivers a great story within this third issue of Galaxy’s Edge. The plot and character development continue to grow throughout the series! Even with each issue being under a different creative team. Ethan gives readers an amazing battle on Batuu while still delivering a heartfelt tone at the end of all of the carnage. I absolutely love the connection to the canon storyline! I think readers and fans will also appreciate this dynamic as well! Great writing from Ethan!
The Artwork
Jethro Morales, Roi Mercado, and Rachelle Rosenberg bring this epic Batuu brawl to visual existence with beautiful art that will leave readers mesmerized! I love looking through a comic book and finding all of the minor and finer details within the artwork. The pencil work within this issue brings so many of those finer details to the reader’s eyes. Now, to one of the Queens of comic book coloration, Rachelle Rosenberg. Phenomenal work on giving the art for this issue the pulse that it deserves! The highlighting of those precious and non-precious details calls for attention from the reader. Absolutely stunning battle scenes! Love what this department produced for readers!
