The Story:

There is so much passion and emotion thrown into this particular issue. Hawkman has chosen to fight alongside Clark and has thrown away money from Talia to do so, which is a massive development for his character. In fact, he is the star of this issue as he hits harder with his words against Teth than he does with his mace. Finding out that Brainiac has played with a power they didn’t even understand, giving him this ability, and then locking Teth away was a bit of a twist where we knew, but not the whole story. This battle against him reminds me of Dragon Ball Z and the epic fights we would find Goku locked in himself. I am truly in awe of what Jason Aaron is doing with this issue.

The Art:

The artwork is simply breathtaking in this issue. The panels of Superman and Teth speeding towards one another, and how the colorwork shows their respective blues, reds, black, and yellows melting into one, blows me away. The level of detail as the punches land and their suits rip with every hit these characters are taking shows how powerful these men are. The final page of this issue, perhaps, may be the best thing they have given to us in this entire run yet. The artwork is powerful in this issue and beautiful in every way.

Final Thoughts:

Absolute Superman #20 blew me away with its beauty in the art and coloring, and the amount of rage and passion within the story. I am in love with this issue, and I cannot wait to see where the final page of this story is about to take us.

Overall Grade: 10/10
