It’s Season 1, Sam and Dean, and they still seem to be new to hunting without dad. As they continue on a case with continuous curveballs, they’re finally getting an understanding of what it’s all about. However, what Sam is, has become even more confusing.

The Story for SUPERNATURAL #8

This issue kicks off with a flashback again, but this time it goes further back, and gets a lot more personal. We get a glimpse of something innocent, and then a young Dean gets a glimpse of something dark. Something foreshadowing a dark future the boys have ahead of them.

We then cut to the present, and our bad guy needs Sam’s blood. While Sam is “the boy with the demon blood,” this seems to be something different. Nevertheless, Dean is more concerned with a possible zombie army, but it’s much simpler than that. However, all magic comes with a price.

The Art

The art continues to nail the action, the backgrounds, and the ever changing emotions of the Winchester boys. There’s never a dull moment when Sam and Dean go back and forth, and the facial expressions on the hunters are perfectly conveyed to give us the season 1 boys. You can hear their voices with each facial expression.

My favorite moment of the art in this issue, however, was the flashback. The colors helped convey it was a memory. We see a wholesome happy moment, with a beautiful quick flash, that wraps with a creepy, yet somehow sad and innocent moment that the art absolutely nailed.

Final Thoughts

We now know the ultimate goal of our “monster.” It seems so simple, but there are still so many questions to be answered. All while leaving us on a cliff hanger in this issue. The show often kept us on our toes until the end, and I feel that’s exactly what’s about to happen here. I can’t wait to see how this all wraps up.

Overall Grade: 8.5/10

If you’ve ever found yourself saying, “Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole,” you should absolutely grab this comic run. With only 1 issue left, there’s no better time like the present, as the boys continue to save people, and hunt things.
