The Story

After all the build up, all the planning, all the investigating, the Sirens are ready to take down Horoscope. With Horoscope making sacrifices of innocent female civilians all over town, the Sirens knew that they had to plan fast. Getting a good look at her calendar, the Sirens knew exactly when Horoscope would act, and it just so happens to be the day of Dinah’s wedding. When they called Dinah’s wedding day the “big day” I’m sure this isn’t what they had in mind.

In the conclusion of this miniseries, Tini Howard brings the story to a satisfying and exciting close. There’s so much to love in Sirens: Love hurts #4. Different dynamics, relationships blooming, emotions revealed, and teamwork so good that it makes you want to see these women work together again.

Throughout this comic run, we’ve seen the unlikely Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Black Canary work together, even through their ups and downs. By the end of the run, there’s genuine love and respect between the team that shines brightly on the pages. Tini Howard has knocked this miniseries out of the park and I would absolutely love to see her return to write for the Sirens again.

The Art

When you have a fabulous story, then you have to have fabulous artwork, and that’s exactly what Babs Tarr, Miquel Muerto, and Becca Carey delivered. Each page has a whimsical feeling to it, that adds to the charm of the characters. The drawings are beautifully done on each and every page. The panels are well detailed while leaving nothing to the imagination, which really sells the story. In every issue of Sirens: Love Hurts, the colors have been stunning to say the least, and this issue is no exception. Each page is filled with vibrancy and gorgeous focal points. It goes with the tones of the story extremely well, letting the reader feel the tone of the story through the artwork. Becca Carey handles the lettering and expertly leads with emotion, allowing the reader to feel every feeling the characters have.

Final Thoughts

As bummed as I am that the series is over, I cannot say enough how wonderful the ending was. The creative team stuck the landing and I can’t wait to see what they do next!

Overall Grade – 10/10
