The Story

In the explosive fourth issue of End of Life, the energy is turned up a few notches in the town of Pluto. The Menagerie is right on Eddie’s tail, even showing up at his father’s house looking for him. His father, George, has to put together a plan on the fly to protect his son, but is very aware that this is a trained killer looking for Eddie.

Meanwhile, Eddie is in the town of Pluto when an announcement is made over a megaphone of someone looking for him. If Eddie doesn’t bring himself to the gas station to face a reckoning, then the bear-headed stranger will start killing people in the town of Pluto.

This has to be the most exciting issue of the run, which is saying something because I’ve loved this run up and down. Kyle Starks does an excellent job at keeping the energy high, especially between the scene changes. You’re instantly hooked into the story by the first page and left wanting to read more by the end. This continues the very high quality work that Starks has put into End of Life!

The Art

Steve Pugh and Chris O’Halloran continue to impress with their work in End of Life with the fourth issue. Perfectly capturing the high emotions of the comic, Steve Pugh is able to illustrate this through the facial expressions of the characters. Eddie is always extremely expressive, but who stands out here are the villains. You can see the unhinged spirit of Eddie’s villains just oozing out of them through their faces. Chris O’Halloran does extremely well with having a juxtaposition of vibrancy against the muted tones of Pluto, which brings a lot of depth to the pages. The vibrancy heats up at the same speed as the action, and it raises the energy even higher.

Final Thoughts

If you haven’t checked out End of Life yet, there’s no time like the present! The characters are compelling, the story is full of depth, and you’ll find yourself anxiously waiting for the next issue to drop by the end of the comic.
