Dawn of the Goblin Slayers Pt. 2
Amazing Spider-Man #21 by Joe Kelly is a continuation from issue twenty. We see the Spider-Team continuing to struggle against the Goblin Slayers. Gwen uses her webbing to bandage Norman’s wounds, and he regains consciousness. Norman takes a moment to assess the situation and comes up with a plan to eliminate the Goblin Slayers.

Norman is still battling his inner demons from his past as the Green Goblin. Norman wants to be a good man and atone for all of his wrong doings. Mainly because his demons are coming back to attack him and his family. According to Norman, no one goes after his family! Except in this issue.
Hobgoblin left his Goblin Slayers at Oscorp to go after Norman’s grandchildren. Not the smartest move to make on a man who is all about saving his family. Norman arrives to take on Hobgoblin, not for destroying his company, but for going after his family. An intense fight ensues, and you can see a transformation taking over Norman…
The battle is over, and Norman returns to his home. Beaten physically and mentally, Norman is seen looking out of his high-rise suite. reflecting on what has just transpired. When a familiar voice grips his attention, and he turns around to see the one person he has been trying to impress…
Writing
Joe Kelly has done an amazing job with this issue! Continuing on from issue twenty dealing with Norman’s mental battle with his past, while focusing on the man he is aspiring to become is beautifully done. The inner dialogue with himself as he (Norman) is fighting Hobgoblin is so poetic. You feel the struggle that Norman is going through, and if you have ever faced this before, you know how Norman is feeling.
Artwork
The artwork from this all-star team is out of this word! The bright colors and various textures bring this emotional story to life from the panels. The details in the weapons, battle torn suits, facial emotions are spot on. You feel everything Norman is going through, not only through the dialogue, but with the help of the artwork as well. The beautiful panels make this issue hard to put down, great job!
Final Thoughts
This is the first Spider-Man run that I have personally collected from the very start with issue one. And I am utterly amazed at the ride that Joe Kelly is taking fans on! This issue is a must read. This entire run is a must have. The story line has no breaks in it at all. From telling multiple stories in a single issue, to one story line an issue. Joe Kelly is proving with this arc why he is one of the best at what he does. Go get your copy of Amazing Spider-Man #21 today!
