GODZILLA INFINITY ROAR #1: The Intergalactic Mistake

Published:

When Godzilla was cast to the stars by Earth’s mightiest heroes, they never expected him to be found by the deadly villain Knull. The intergalactic mistake has now spread universe-wide as Knull has combined his symbiotes with the King of the Monsters, with his sights set upon the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda!

The Story:

If you were like me, wondering just how they would continue building upon the insane story of Godzilla in the Marvel universe, then fear not, as this issue kicks off with a bang! Knull has encased Godzilla in his symbiotes and set him upon the galaxy, wreaking havoc and chaos. I love how Gerry brings out characters such as Black Bolt in what should feel like a triumphant moment, and truly is as he blasts Godzilla into shreds. This epic moment instantly turns funny as Black Bolt is running away in fear after failing, which truly showcases how mighty Godzilla is.

Gerry delivers more fresh faces, and it is all hands on deck from the Guardians of the Galaxy to even Odin himself, giving us subtle hints and teases as to what Knull’s true intentions are. I truly have such a blast with these stories and find it awe-inducing to see what they come up with next plot-wise.

The Art and Letters:

The artwork is off the charts in this issue, from panel one. Seeing a canon ball being thrown at Wakanda’s intergalactic city, only to see Godzilla ripping himself free, is so well detailed and colored. The way the colors bounce off the void of color in space creates some epic moments that stand out when these fights take place. Not to go unnoticed is when Black Bolts blast is going against Godzilla, there are the words “Now Die,” and it is artistic moments that add layers to the battles, and these standout moments.

Final Thoughts:

Godzilla Infinity Roar #1 takes the blood feud between the Marvel Universe and Toho’s Godzilla to entirely new levels of destruction. Just when we think they cannot top certain moments, Gerry and the team find a way to blow our minds even further. Make sure to add this to the top of your pull lists!
