Catch up with Black Panther: Intergalactic #1!
The Story
T’Challa is off-world, stuck on this very confusing island that’s ran by very confusing creatures. Before he’s able to wrap his head around what’s going on, he gets trapped by what looks to be himself with Doc Ock’s powers. It’s one strange thing after another here, but T’Challa has no choice but to figure it out for his own safety.

Unfortunately, T’Challa isn’t the only Wakandan stuck on this island. Shuri has looked far and wide for T’Challa after communicating him but losing the signal. With the help of the child Femi, Shuri finds a way to this strange world to save her brother once and for all. But things get very tense very quickly when they’re abducted minutes after landing. This strange place seems to have a mind of its own, and the species that occupy ithas it out for the visitors. All the while, there’s another King T’Challa who’s pretending to be the original T’Challa walking amongst Wakanda, which a plan in mind. Things are getting as complicated as ever with surprises at every turn.
The Writing
Victor LaValle continues the exciting and compelling story of King T’Challa on this new planet after the Imperial event. Black Panther: Intergalactic continues to pull you into the story and keeps you on the edge of your seat, while questions form in your mind. With so much happening in the comic, there’s a surprise at every turn that keeps you excited and keeps you guessing. I really enjoy how there’s three different stories happening at once, and they’re all perfectly paced. There’s no rushed parts and every story gets its own time to shine, while adding to the overall plot.
The Art
Stefano Nesi, Bryan Valenza, and Ariana Maher put their best foot forward when it comes to the artwork of Black Panther: Intergalactic #2. The look of the new world feels larger than life, with details that accentuate the creatures on the planet. I really enjoyed how the attack of the creature with Doc Ock’s powers, with the tentacles taking up so much space on the page. It was a great way to show them as the real threat to T’Challa. The color schemes give you the feeling that you’re in a new and strange land. When Shuri and Femi make it to the new place, there’s a beautiful juxtaposition between oranges and darker colors. All in all, the artists nailed it once again.
Final Thoughts
If you haven’t checked out Black Panther: Intergalactic, it’s never too late! The second issue is more than proof that the first issue wasn’t just a strong start, but the bar of quality to expect from this run.
Overall Grade – 9/10
