ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #15: Blocking Out The Noise.

Published:

It has been months since Smallville, Kansas has been freed from Lazarus and the Peacemakers by Superman. What should be times of peace and harmony are anything but as Clark struggles with blocking out the noise of the world. Everyday he hears screams for help to which he flies to all the while he sets on his path of bringing Ras Al Ghul back from the darkness.

The Story:

Jason has set to writing the next chapter of this incredible take on Kal El and despite ending the last issue on s high note, we see that peace has yet to find Clark. There are many struggles to being Superman that nobody would think of and none more so than the constant screams and cries for help from the world. Clark bears a heavy burden on his shoulders and feels as though he must save everyone as he failed to save Sol and his planet. This takes us down a path of uncertainty and you truly feel every emotion as Jason brings us along for this journey. The ending of this issue also sets up an ominous ending with familiar faces that I cannot wait to see enter the fold.

The Art and Letters:

There is such an incredible vibrancy and realism to Juans art in this book that fills every panel up beautifully. There is a particular panel of Superman who is mostly covered in darkness, eyes glowing as he stares through a burned hole in the building of a toyman who repeatedly sets fires to his buildings. This scene encapsulates the amazing work and detail that Juan has with the artwork and it makes my jaw drop throughout this entire book. Becca’s ability to capture the tone of Superman’s voice and his stern warning adds to this sequence as we continue to see him grow and learn how to be this hero for Earth.

Final Thoughts:

Absolute Superman #15 starts Clarks new journey into finding his way as a hero and as Clark Kent. It’s full of pain and confusion as he struggles but, that is what makes this story so much fun to read. Jason and the team bring new life and vibrancy into every issue making this book a must read monthly.
