Ultimate Endgame #1: Game Over For All Eternity?

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

When it comes to Ultimate Endgame #1, the stakes in this first issue are very high. World-building comes into play as it sets up groups of characters talking to each other. The issue, it focuses on Iron Man and Spider-Man, working together. The “Maker” has plans to destroy everything that is in the Maker’s sight. This story also sets up these characters as being from different universes. I really enjoyed seeing Iron-Lad and The Wasp, who make appearances throughout the issue. This all-star group comes together to fight “The Maker,” and hopefully, they can defeat evil.

In the story, there are tons of action sequences. I enjoy that each character has a set of powers that can add to the fighting. I also love that they talk to each other; communication is the key when it comes to working in a group. When I looked at Spider-Man, it seemed that they had aged up the famous Peter Parker, and he is from a different timeline. I also like that Ultimate Endgame establishes a baseline, in order for the reader to keep track of where the story is going. This is a very strong beginning to what I am hoping to be an epic journey towards an epic conclusion.

When it comes to the art, it is simply lovely. I really like how Scharf made Spider-Man when he takes off his mask, the beard he has shocked me. I love how realistic it looks. I also love the way that each comic panel looks, and Scharf makes the book come alive. I also like that I can see exactly what is going on when it comes to what is going on in each scene. I’m really interested to see where these characters land, and hopefully, they can defeat the Maker.
