PREDATOR KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE #5: Resistance

Published:

The Yautja have ruthlessly attacked New York City with little resistance, that is, until now. Tony Stark takes the remaining heroes to his secret room which houses their key to fighting back and stopping this threat once and for all.

The Story:

Percy knows how to nail a big finale. As we should have known, Tony always has some backup plan in his pocket, and it turns out that it is armored suits ready to match against the invading army. Seeing Wolverine in an Iron Man suit, slashing his way through Yautja while sticking true to characters’ cores, such as Peter rescuing people, was a triumphant way to end this mini run. He even captures important characteristics such as the king of the Yautja and the hubris he holds in not bothering to do any research before the invasion, which leads to some incredibly awesome moments with Sue Storm. There is a bit of a tease in the finale with a certain character, and I cannot wait to see where we head next. All of these Predator versus runs have been amazing and show-stopping.

The Art and Letters:

This issue is pure action in all of the best ways, and the art lives up to the big moments being delivered. The green spray of Yautja blood that fills each panel and page is violent, and there is no holding back. I love the details, such as Wolverine’s claws coming out through the Iron Man armor as he gets his revenge for the fallen X-Men. The anger drawn on his face displays the pent-up rage and sadness he has been feeling as he can let loose. There are other big moments, such as Sue Storm exploding the head of the Yautja leader, which is excellently built up through Clayton’s letters as the narration builds like a song to this epic moment. Kraven and Weapon X Predator have their showdown as well which will leave fans in awe at how well it is built up and delivered.

Final Thoughts:

Predator Kills the Marvel Universe #5 is a violent and brutal ending to this assault from the Yautja in a satisfying manner. This may be the end, but like any great story, there is always a tease of what’s to come. The Predator Kills the Marvel Universe may be the run of the year, giving fans everything they could have imagined.
