The Story:

Matt: Joelle Jones is the perfect writer to take on this issue, as both characters bring so much power and yet could not be more different personality-wise. My favorite part of this is how the fight kicks off like a WWE pay-per-view event from the 90’s there is such a classic wrestling vibe to it, along with the fun introductions. Lobo is not taking this seriously at all and is very misogynistic at times, which becomes his undoing. Both of these fighters get their chances to shine, and there were times I thought Lobo would steal a win; however, his hubris becomes his undoing, and Joelle tells an incredible fight in this issue.

Megan: I cannot even begin to explain the excitement DC K.O. Wonder Woman VS. Lobo #1 gave me while reading it. Joelle Jones keeps the energy at an all-time high throughout the entire comic, keeping your eyes locked until the very end. In DC K.O. Wonder Vs. Lobo #1, the contestants go through three rounds of battles with each other that has each round even more exciting than the last. What I really enjoyed about the comic is that you genuinely have no idea what’s going to happen next. Jones keeps you on your toes throughout the comic and by the end of it, it’s anyone game.

The Art and Letters:

Matt: Much like the story, the art is an adventure and a story on its own in this issue. There are so many variations of flavors from the art team that really make this one fun. There is a page that is a pixelated retro video game, which is perhaps one of my favorites in the issue, and it makes this fight fun. The art team really crafts a huge fight full of moments with these two laying devastating blows at various times, to which, much like a wrestling match, they capture the moments and spots excellently.

Megan: With a story so thrilling, you have to have artwork that matches that quality, and that’s exactly what we have here in the comic. Drenched in grittiness and chaos, the epic battles between Lobo and Wonder Woman are brought forward with striking artwork that’s perfectly detailed and keeps you locked into the pages. Along with the perfect detailing, the coloring of the comic is loud and impactful, with vibrancy juxtaposing the darkest of colors.

Final Thoughts:

Matt: 10/10. DC K.O. Wonder Woman vs Lobo #1 is excellent! It captures both personalities and how each loves a good fight. The art captures the spots and the joy these two have in fighting, as well as the size of the blows they come to. Not to be lost in the fray, but the background story of what is happening on the Watchtower will suck you in just as much, if not more, as Darkseid always has a backup plan.

Megan: 10/10. DC K.O. Wonder Woman VS. Lobo #1 is a wild thrill ride that you don’t want to get off of. Joelle Jones and the creative team makes it their mission to create a battle that’s full of excitement, and they definitely achieved that.

Overall Grade: 10/10
