The Story

Continuing the thrilling life that doesn’t seem to give him a break, Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man Noir, is up to his neck in problems. We start Spider-Man Noir #3 with Peter looking for a missing child who was speculated to be taken by the Nazis to run experiments on. Obviously, Peter can’t let that fly so he does some investigating. Finding the child tied up and dangling from his feet, Spider-Man swings into action to save the child from the mad Nazi Scientist.

While saving the child, we’re introduced to a new villain who keeps Peter on his toes, Plasma-Man. As a science experiment turned into a weapon, Plasma-Man seems pretty unbeatable but that doesn’t deter Spider-Man. With the building engulfed in flames, Peter’s only priority is to get everyone, including the Nazi scientist out to safety. The battle between him and Plasma-Man will have to pick up another day.

With all the chaos of the Nazis Peter is having to endure, he still has to worry about telling Gwen the truth about who killed her father. The problem is once he tells her what happened, he can never tell her his secret crime-fighting alter ego.

The Writing

Erik Larsen continues the thrilling story of Spider-Man Noir while adding in new factors that keep you locked into the story. With the introduction of Plasma-Man, the turn taken when Gwen finds out who killed her father, and the big secret weapon harbored by the nazis, it seem that each issue gets more and more exciting. In the classic Parker Luck, Peter can’t seem to catch a break with any part of his life, and Erik makes it as fun and compelling as possible.

The Art

Marika Cresta, Rachelle Rosenberg and Travis Lanham are to thank for the fantastic artwork of Spider-Man Noir #3. Marika brings the heat in the battle between Peter and Plasma-Man that’s as gorgeous as it is exciting. That’s something I really appreciate that Marika does is make every fight scene even more exciting than it already is.

Rachelle Rosenberg lends her talents as the colorist and does a great job making Spider-Man Noir the focal point despite his darker look. Using vibrant backgrounds, Rosenberg is able to make Peter jump out on the page. Travis Lanham uses his talents to create an even flow of dialogue with the words of the comic in an expert way. Together, the artists did a tremendous job!
