Hallmark has just dropped its latest round of feel-good movies for Countdown to Christmas, including The Snow Must Go On, which premiered on November 28th. The film stars Corey Cott as Isiah Heyward and Heather Hemmens as Lilly-Anne Brigente.

The Musical Plot

Isiah is a former Broadway star down on his luck, unable to get cast in any productions, as well as losing his job as a caroler, which leads him to spend Christmas with his sister, Jess (Samantha Kendrick), who is recently divorced and still struggling to move forward, and his niece, Aurora (Kaelyn Yoon-Macrae). Upon his arrival in their small town outside of the bustling concrete jungle of New York City, he sees an opportunity for a second chance on Broadway as Aurora’s high school class is putting on a Christmas musical to which their teacher recently walked out on.

Isiah leaps at the opportunity to write, direct, and star in “Randolph the Christmas Elk” as one of the students in the class. Miranda just so happens to be the daughter of big-time Broadway producer Cindy Santos. What begins as selfish motivations quickly turns into the students and Guidance Counselor Lilly-Anne helping Isiah see the error of his ways and helping Cindy see the talent her daughter Miranda has been keeping hidden away.

The Hits

From the jump, I was hooked on this film as it featured something original to Hallmark, although yes, it does sound familiar to The School of Rock, which I also love. While it wouldn’t be a Hallmark film without Isiah and Lilly-Anne finding love, it felt as though the plot focused on the duo finding romance took a backseat to Isiah and the kids putting on a heart-warming Christmas production. Isiah was a captive leading man but the kids all had a moment to shine as each one held their own and sold the film to me. Aside from that, I want to shout out Hallmark’s casting department for casting a diverse cast of Asian actresses, which stood out to me as well.

This might, in fact, be my favorite of the season so far to have been released. The musical numbers were fun, the plot had me hooked from the jump, and the cast did an incredible job. It featured a plot that was unique to Hallmark and featured a good amount of laughs, not to mention Isiah’s Christmas jumpsuit I might need the name of who sells that because it was incredible.

You can watch The Snow Must Go On now on Hallmark+ and the Hallmark Channel!
